Dental Coverage with Florida Blue

Your teeth are strong, but can cause some of the worse pain that doesn't go away when you don't take care of them. Unless you already have Dental Insurance, there is a 6 month waiting period before the plan pays for anything major like crowns or root canals. Almost all plans have your routine checkups included at no charge.

Marketplace Quoting Tools

I have 2 different websites I use for quoting and enrolling people through the Marketplace, Healthcare.gov. The first will show you a number of different plans in addition to Florida Blue health insurance plans and the link is https://www.healthsherpa.com/?_agent_id=marcus-thomson-jy-0xq

October 2019 Health Insurance Update

Good news is with the help of my new enrollment website, I can enroll clients in any health insurance plan available on the Marketplace this upcoming enrollment period.

Annual Election Period for Medicare is from October 15 through December 7.

The Marketplace Annual Enrollment Period is from November 1 through December 15. If you do not enroll in health insurance during that time, you will not be eligible to participate in the subsidy to help pay for your health insurance through the Marketplace unless you lose other coverage or move. If either of those 2 situations apply to you, you must take advantage of your special enrollment period within 45 days.

Re-enrollment for Health Insurance. Open enrollment for Florida Blue and the Marketplace is from November 1st through December 15th for a January 1st policy.

Q- Do I have to do anything if nothing has changed?
A- Yes, you should update the Marketplace through your agent every year as changes happen every year to plans, subsidies, coverage, deductibles, copays and more.

Q- I lost my coverage in the past, can I get new coverage for 2019?
A- Yes. Open enrollment is the only time you can get coverage without a life changing event (marraige, divorce, moved, birth of a child,...)?

Q- I am planning on getting married and/or moving in after the first of the year, can I just do it then?
A- No. You have to get coverage through the Marketplace first. You have 60 days from a life change to make a change to your policy?

A:  Did you make your initial payment and did you see it come out of your account?

As your agent, I always send those files after the application is complete. Q:  Why did my primary care physician change (PCP)? A:  Sometimes Florida Blue's system changes it. We can fix that by calling Member Services. If you have a Blue Select or Blue Options plan, they do not have PCP because they are EPO. EPO works similar to a PPO with the main difference that if you go outside the network, the cost is much higher and will have a higher deductible.
